SKOPE teamed up with salt field-based NGO, Chumkriel Language School, to donate some school supplies for our next project. Built right in the middle of the salt planes, CLS provides free English and Khmer classes to children whose parents work on the salt fields.

SKOPE and some children from Sovann Komar traveled down to Kampot for the day to meet the children and donate some supplies. These included posters, flashcards, audio equipment, and USBs loaded with teaching materials. We also brought some sports equipment and, as in Kampong Thom, the children from the city and countryside played together wonderfully.

The salt fields children also gave ours a tour of the vast lakes of drying salt and told them a little bit about the work they and their parents do to earn a living. They earn about $2-$3 for a full day's work.

SKOPE and CLS want to stop parents sending their children out to work and instead realise that a good education can help their family break the cycle of poverty. CLS is providing an amazing service to this community and SKOPE hopes to continue to support them in the future.
